TOOL NO: 1 – Learning and teaching The 12 English Tenses the easy way.
The tool itself consists of a multicolour base (blue, plum, yellow and green), and a blue circle with an open sector as the top.
Each of the tenses will be revealed separately when the top is turned clockwise.eg. dial to the Yellow section. (Turn 2 learn).
The far outer circle indicates the Indefinite group of tenses.
This group is further defined as the Present Indefinite Tense with a time word that can be substituted (Everyday) can also be every Sunday, every year etc.
Now look at the top Blue disc and see the group of personal pronouns as indicated next to the open sector
(HE, She, It) = The third person singular
(We) = The 1 st person plural (Choose any one given pronoun at a time to form a sentence)
(They) = 3rd person plural
(You ) = 2nd person singular and plural
(I) = First person singular
Now you can form a very basic sentence by choosing any of the pronouns and adding a verb (eg Go)
Sentence: Every day he or she or it goes…….(remember that you may substitute with any other verb of your choice) .
This tool therefore allows you to discover all the other eleven tenses in the same way.
What’s more, the reverse side of this teaching and learning tools reveals a further 336 different forms of verbs to be used in writing exercises for Meetings and Reports.
